We are so good at writing.
We can write words 'snip snap.'
This helps us write our stories.
We wrote as many words as we could in just 10 minutes.
We could write so many words.
Super writers get superhero Certificates!
George was our speediest writer.
He wrote 53 words all correct in 10 minutes!

Coming Soon...

On Tuesday the 7th November we have our school Art Show.
It is at night from 6-8pm.
We have made some amazing art this year in Rata.
Lately we have been learning about making prints on paper.
There are lots of different ways to do this.
We have used forks to make print marks and create...(sorry you will find out at the Art Show!)
We have also used fingerprints to create...
Altogether Rata are making...(OOPs we can't say... it is a big surprise!

It is great to be back at school.

Lots of special things are happening this term.
Spring is here and Summer is on it's way.

Please remember to bring your brimmed sunhat each day.
It is also a good idea to put sunscreen on in the morning before coming to school.

Coming up next week...
The whole school is dressing up as our Favourite Book Character on Thursday.
Who will you be?

A Big Thank You ...

Alesha was so surprised when we gave her our ambulance with the gold coins.
We raised $570, which was awesome!
Thank you to everyone who kindly donated money to this wonderful free service.

Onesie Day!
We have found out about the people in our community
who help keep us safe and make Porirua a fun city to live in.
We decided to bring a gold coin to raise money for the Wellington Free ambulance,
one of these Community Superheroes.
We collected coins from Totara block, too.
We discovered that Neema and Mrs. CJ have both needed an ambulance this year!

Māori Language Day has been marked on September 14
since the famous Māori language petition was delivered on that day in 1972.

Do you know your address?
The Community Helpers who have visited us have told us
it is important that we can say
...our first and last name
...the number and street that we live on.
We have lots of street and place names that are in the Maori language.
This song will help us learn to say the Maori vowels correctly.

Which version do you like the most?

We said farewell to Miss. August.
The choir sang beautifully and some children spoke.
We will look forward to seeing her new baby.
Arohanui Miss. August!

We are always excited when it is Friday and we know we will have M.O.O.T.
Today Scarlett was a teacher.
She showed us how to fold and cut paper to make a special book.
It was fun and you can make one by clicking on this link:Scarlett's Book
Thank you Scarlett.
There was a Train Station in the block.
There was a lot of team work happening....
I wonder how many places the passengers stopped at?
The construction workers were super busy with their building, too!
